Erik and I have been in Alabama about a month and a half and we are already looking forward to moving out of this state!! We are living each day to the fullest; however, there are certain things that prove to us that Alabama is not where born and raised Texans should live!!
Top Ten Reasons:
1) The lakes on post have warning signs for Alligators!
2) This past weekend we wanted to watch the Miami vs. OU game on ABC and what is on
instead? None other than the National Peanut Festival Pageant....thus no football
game!
3) The State Bird. The Mosquito!
4) The Mexican Food in this state does not come any where close to acceptable!
5) We live in a black hole - the phone service out here is horrible! Del Rio, the little town on the
Texas/Mexico border, had better service than here.
6) Alabama has an over abundance of Stop signs!
7) We live less than 90 miles away from the ocean and fresh seafood; however, when I go to the
grocery store they do not have any fresh seafood! 90 miles and no fresh seafood, it's all
frozen!
8) Humidity....need I say more!!
Even Tank is affected by this humidity....the thick hair down the ridge of his back has a
wave to it ever since we moved here!
9) Flies, Spiders, and Bugs! We now own a bug zapper that serenades us nightly with its frying
of bugs outside and we now have a fly swatter hanging in the kitchen to swat the flies that
constantly come inside. Needless to say, our swatting skills have improved immensely!
10) Our 70 pound, 6 month old, Chocolate Lab has become a total scardy cat! He is scared of the
broom, the mop, the vacuum, the lamp post, the fly swatter, and the bug zapper! He also
has turned into a bug catcher!
Overall, we are born and raised Texans and will always be Texans no matter where the Air Force sends us! With Texas being the greatest state, we are bound to find things that do not stand up to the Lone Star State and I am sure our list will continue to grow... :)
Hi, this is Mimi (your cousin). My dog, Ginger, is scared of absolutely everything too! Especially balloons!
